Transgender communications – the right way

Cadance Bell is a transgender advocate discussing the most appropriate way to cast and communicate with sensitivity to the transgender community in marketing, media and advertising. In a world where we are no longer just pink and blue, we discuss her hierarchy of priorities for casting, who is doing great work for the transgender community and we discuss what it is like to experience a shift in gender bias once transitioned.

Cadance is a writer, producer and director and CEO & Co-founder of Wayflair, an entertainment company specialising in film & TV inclusion for the LGBTQIA+ community. Her production credits include The Rainbow Passage for Screen Australia and Network Ten, Mirror Spider, Pagan’s Box, Chair Guy, Rusty then Sam and many more. Cady is the author of the popular LGTBQIA+ blog I Miss Pockets, following her gender affirmation shenanigans. She is a contributor to newspapers like The Guardian, and performs her work at festivals like Queerstories and Antidote at the Sydney Opera House. She is in final discussions for the publication of her romantic dark comedy memoir.
